TULSA, OK -- Designs for the new Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) Tulsa studio at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa were approved Thursday at a board meeting for the University Center at Tulsa Trust Authority.

Oklahoma's statewide public television network, plans to break ground on the nearly 11,000 square-foot facility at OSU-Tulsa in October, according to OSU-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl.

"This is a beneficial partnership for both OSU-Tulsa and OETA," Trennepohl said. "OETA will experience enhanced operations and production with the new facility, while internships and other unique learning opportunities will be created for OSU students."

The television station, which is currently located at 811 N. Sheridan Road, has secured public and private funding to build the facility on the east side of the OSU-Tulsa campus. The UCT Authority will lease the land to OETA.

Trennepohl said the facility will incorporate the same type of architecture as the other buildings on OSU-Tulsa's campus. PSA-Dewberry is the architect for the project. The design plans will next go before the OSU-Tulsa Trustees for approval, after which construction of the facility can begin.
