City Of Tulsa Solicits Plans For West Bank Of Arkansas River

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The City of Tulsa is ready to solicit development ideas for the west bank of the Arkansas River.

The solicitation, called a Request for Proposals, is sent to developers who might be interested in 115 acres of prime riverfront property. 

"We're going to use their experience and imagination to come up with good ideas that we can accept or reject, or make alterations to," Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said.

The land includes both city and privately owned property which could be combined for a large development.

The responses will be evaluated by representatives from Tulsa County and the RiverParks Authority, but the City will have the final say on which plan is selected. 

The RFP includes detailed requirements, such as a "destination element" that will attract tourists.

Patrons at the Blue Rose, a huge success on the east bank, have some suggestions.

"Restaurants, clubs, nightlife, something for younger people," Leigh Ward said.

"Family oriented businesses would be wonderful, I'd love to see a movie theater somewhere over there; would be great," Marion Carlin said.
