OXFORD, Mississippi -- Greetings from Mississippi. I'm wrapping up day two and bracing for the worse. Deadly tornadoes are what captured the nation's attention last week, but for some living here in the deep south, it's only going to get worse.
Flooding threats now hover over several communities here in the northwest parts of Mississippi and more rain is likely tonight, tomorrow and into early Tuesday. I'll likely be with teams as they begin shuffling residents into evacuation shelters.
This deployment has put me face-to-face with Red Cross workers and volunteers from all across the country and almost every time I make my introduction I get a response that is along the lines of, "Oh, Oklahoma? So, you're used to this, right?" Well, yes. I am. We are. And I'm so excited to be able to bring Oklahoma's generosity, spirit and standard to the great folks of this state who are suffering.
During my deployment here I'll continue tracking down other Oklahomans who are here and helping and share their stories with you and the rest of the News9.com readers.
