Storms Leave Some Damage Behind In Northeastern Oklahoma

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Severe thunderstorms rolled across Green Country Wednesday evening, bringing heavy rains and strong winds.

The storms moved into the Tulsa area about 5 p.m. and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for several northeastern Oklahoma counties.

There were no reports of any tornadoes.

A NewsOn6.com user submitted a photo showing wind damage in Prattville, near Sand Springs. 

Another NewsOn6.com user submitted a photo showing a toppled tree on top of a grill at a home near Claremore.  The user said the tree bounced across the roof, off of the grill and onto the pool cover.

News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer said reports incidated winds between 60-70 miles per hour near Claremore.

Tulsa Firefighters were called to Pine and Florence Wednesday evening after a tree fell on a house.  There is no word on whether anyone was inside the home at the time.

Some isolated storms could linger through about 10 p.m Wednesday. There may also be an isolated shower or two Thursday morning.

Another large band of severe weather is expected to move through the area on Thursday, Faurot said. The cool front is expected to arrive late Thursday to Friday morning, bringing cooler temperatures to Green Country for the weekend.
