TULSA, Oklahoma -- Employees won the bid for city hall maintenance over 12 private firms. The decision was announced at a news conference hosted by Mayor Dewey Bartlett Thursday afternoon.
The bidding process for the City's first managed competition project, where City employees bid against private services, was a dedicated effort to lower the City's cost and lead to improved efficiencies, the Mayor said.

The City's electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry needs are currently budgeted at $1,093,008 per year. In a bidding process to lower the City's costs and become more efficient, the City's team competed against 12 private services and submitted the winning bid of $977,190, which represents a savings of $115,818 in annual expenses.
The City's Management Review Office is currently evaluating 1,100 recommendations from last fall's KPMG efficiency study of Tulsa's government and has 18 projects underway.
