TULSA, Oklahoma -- Former congressman and current director of the National Energy Policy Institute at the University of Tulsa indicated on Wednesday he will not seek a return to the congressional seat he vacated in 2004.
Brad Carson, a Democrat, said on June 7, 2011 he may seek the seat again with the announcement that Congressman Dan Boren, who is also a Democrat, would not run for re-election in 2012.

"I am considering it again, after many friends have called encouraging me. There are pressing issues both locally and nationally, and I believe that my experience in business, education, and politics is essential to getting things back on the right track," said Brad Carson.
On Wednesday, a post on Brad Carson's Facebook page said he had changed his mind.
"Lots of people here on Facebook have asked me whether I intend to run for the US House seat I held from 2001 to 2005. I very much appreciate the well wishes and encouragement, but wanted to let people know that I am not running for the seat. There will be many good candidates, and I look forward to helping one of them," said Brad Carson.
The second congressional district is the only seat in Oklahoma which is held by a Democrat.
Calls to Brad Carson have not yet been returned.
