TULSA, Oklahoma -- The countdown is on as teachers at Gilcrease Elementary rush to prepare for a new school year starting just two days.
They just found out Monday night at a board meeting that school will start so soon. Gilcrease will join five other year round schools that will begin classes Thursday.

With such short notice, are the teachers ready?
Cinda LaPlant is rushing to get her kindergarten classroom ready for the upcoming school year.
"Getting everything set up, putting the things out, making them feel welcoming for the kids," LaPlant said.
While this may seem like it's last minute, TPS officials say it's notified teachers and parents about the possible changes over the summer.
"The staff at Gilcrease Elementary School was hired under the auspices would be a CLC school. As part of project school house," said Millard House, TPS Deputy Superintendent.
But will teachers be ready?
"Some people are really having to push a little harder. But most of us I think have been working consistently," LePlant said.
Across the hall it's all about getting through a pile of posters and supplies for 3rd grade teacher Donna Emberton.
"I'm really excited. I've been wanting to teach at a year round school, since I've talked to teachers two years ago," Emberton said. "Everyone that I've talked to, that has taught year round, has said it was just success all the way around."
TPS estimates 320 students will attend Gilcrease Elementary for the new school year.
