SAPULPA, Oklahoma -- A Green Country soldier killed in Afghanistan was laid to rest Monday. Friends and family gathered in Sapulpa to say goodbye to Sergeant Kirk Owen.
He was a member of the 45th infantry and was sweeping for mines when an IED exploded under his vehicle. Sergeant Owen's job was to protect chaplains on the battlefield.
The 37-year-old husband and father of two was on his second tour of duty when he was killed.
