Craig County Man Charged With Killing His Mother

WELCH, Oklahoma -- A Craig County man is now charged with killing his elderly mother.

Ruth Rice, 81, was found beaten to death in her home in Welch on August 4, 2011.

The Craig County Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation say Michael Rice was a person of interest in the case from the beginning.

Craig County Sheriff Jimmy Sooter said during questioning Monday afternoon, Michael Rice admitted to killing his mother. He's charged with first degree murder.

Rice is being held in the Craig County jail without bond. He's also charged with first degree rape in connection with the case.
