NEW YORK – The Oklahoma Sooners are the No. 1 team in the AP college football poll entering week three of the season, a ranking that sets a new milestone in college football polling history.
Sunday the Sooners became the first team in the history of the Associated Press college football poll to receive the top ranking 100 times since the poll began in 1936.
Oklahoma received the top ranking entering week three despite not playing during week two due to a bye week.
The Sooners will face its highest ranked opponent of the season in the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee on Saturday.
Oklahoma State crept up one spot in the AP poll this week taking the No. 8 ranking after beating Arizona on Thursday.

Alabama reclaimed the No. 2 spot after a 27-11 win over Penn State. The rest of the top five rounds out with LSU at No.3 followed by Boise State then Florida State.
Oklahoma and Florida State will kick off at 7 p.m. CST on Saturday against Florida State. That game will be televised by ABC.
The OSU Cowboys face its first road test of the season as well traveling to the University of Tulsa on Saturday for a 9 p.m. kickoff.
