Memorial Service To Be Held For TU Player Who Died After Boxing Match

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Friends and family will say goodbye to a former TU football player in a memorial service on campus Tuesday at noon.

George Clinkscale died Wednesday shortly after participating in GUTS' Church "Fight Night."

Paramedics who treated Clinkscale described it as a medical issue - not a traumatic injury - though the unsanctioned boxing event is still being investigated.

Clinkscale also coached at Tulsa Central High School. He leaves behind a daughter, a fiancée, and an unborn baby.

Former TU teammates of Clinkscale have established The George Clinkscale Memorial Fund at the Bank of America and have also set-up a drop-off location at the TU football offices for clothing and baby items for his daughters.
