JAY, Oklahoma -- Delaware County Sheriff Jay Blackfox is expected to submit his resignation to the county commissioners on Friday.

Word of Blackfox's resignation comes after the Delaware County commissioners voted this week to settle a federal lawsuit filed by female inmates at the jail.

Shortly after the settlement announcement, News On 6 has learned the county commissioners asked for Blackfox's resignation.

Blackfox has been sheriff for 6 and a half years. He was re-elected to the job a little over two years ago.
