A man was shot in a busy parking lot , in broad daylight by a robber who demanded his wallet. It happened outside the AutoZone store at 51st and Peoria just before 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Police looked around an SUV where the victim was standing when he was approached by a robber, who demanded his wallet.
The robber shot the victim, who managed to get inside the store for help. Employees said the man was shot in the stomach.
Tulsa Police sent out dozens of officers to blanket the area, but they didn't find the suspects or their vehicle. It's described as a silver or gray 2003 Chevy Malibu, with the tag number ADK-309. Two black men were in the car, which was being driven by a large white woman.
The attempted robbery and shooting happened just before noon, and Tulsa Police say a witness followed the suspects from the scene in his car, but stopped when they fired more shots. He wasn't hurt.
Police set up a perimeter covering more than four square miles, and searched for hours without finding the suspects.
The victim, a 36 year old man, was in surgery earlier Tuesday.
