The Broken Arrow City Council voted Tuesday night to seek the legal opinion of the Oklahoma Attorney General in its battle with a controversial casino.
The Kialegee Tribal Town is building a casino in Broken Arrow on the property of two women who belong to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
The city council formally started the process Tuesday, asking Attorney General Scott Pruitt to investigate whether the Kialegee Tribal Town Casino can move forward.
Pruitt has already contacted the National Indian Gaming Commission concerning the Red Clay Casino.
He has asked for copies of all documents and information about plans for the land, including the gaming license application.
The council is also requesting that the Muskogee (Creek) Nation conduct its own investigation into the casino currently under construction. Its chief spoke out against the casino Monday.
