Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich spoke with News 9's Stan Miller early Tuesday morning as he wrapped up his two-day visit to Oklahoma.

The former U.S. House Speaker will speak to the Oklahoma House at 10 a.m. On Monday, Gringrich addressed supporters at the Jim Thorpe Museum in Oklahoma City. He blasted the Obama administration for delaying the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Gingrich said he wants the U.S. to be energy independent. He said President Barack Obama has been "profoundly wrong" on energy issues. He also said if he's elected president, he'll take steps to lower the price of gas to $2 per gallon.

Gingrich trailed fellow Republican candidates Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney in Oklahoma polls. The state holds its presidential primary on March 6.
