Police Searching For Man In Attempted Sperry Rape

Authorities are looking for a man who attempted to rape a 15-year-old girl as she walked home from school Monday afternoon.

The attacker popped up from behind a bush and struck the teen in the back of the head with a rock as she walked along a paved bike trail in Sperry, authorities say.

The man then attempted to sexually assault the teen, but the girl was able to fight off the attacker and run away.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were not able to locate the man during an air-to-ground search of the area. He's described as a tall, slender, white male dressed in all black.

The victim was taken to a Tulsa hospital for treatment. Authorities say she is scratched up from fighting off the attack and suffered a bump on the head from the rock. But she is expected to be OK.

Police believe the victim did not know her attacker.
