The mother of a toddler who suffered "severe water burns" in a January incident in Dewey has been bound over for trial.

Danielle Connor, 23, is charged with one count of child neglect.

Dewey Police arrested Connor on January 31, 2012 after a Kansas hospital informed police of burns to over 30 percent of the toddler's body.

During a preliminary hearing in Washington County court, a doctor who examined the 16-month-old toddler said burns were not the result of an accident.

According to a court affidavit, Connor told officers she left the child alone in a lukewarm bathtub and returned 10 minutes later to find the child screaming and hot water pouring from the spout.

Connor's next court hearing is April 18, 2012. She remains in the Washington County jail on a $50,000 bond.
