A Sand Springs teacher charged with raping a 17-year-old student has submitted her resignation and it has been accepted, Sand Springs Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Lonetta Sprague confirmed.
Erin Kathleen Queen, 27, was an English teacher at Charles Page High School and a ninth-grade girls basketball coach.
Superintendent Lloyd Snow has authority to accept a resignation on behalf of the school board, especially in cases like this, Sprague said.
The resignation was tendered last week and approved the same day, Sprague said.
Queen was arrested March 18 after police, acting on a tip from a minor's parents, caught Queen and the student at the Candlewood Suites on East 73rd Street .
Police say Queen admitted to having sex with the boy. She was charged March 23 in Tulsa District Court with second-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Sand Springs Superintendent Lloyd Snow told News On 6 last month that he recommended Queen be dismissed.
She was suspended with pay and a hearing on her status with the district was scheduled for April 25.
Queen is free on bond and is due back in court on April 24.
