Three people are missing after two trains collided with each other near Goodwell, Oklahoma, Sunday morning. Emergency crews are also looking for the three.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says they received emergency calls just after 10 a.m. Sunday that the trains had crashed about two miles east of Goodwell. At least one train was carrying chemicals.

Authorities confirmed one person was killed, however, that person's identity has not been released.

Fire crews are also on the scene trying to put out a fire started by the collision. They have the fire contained, but not out as of Sunday night. One firefighter was taken to the hospital and treated for a heat-related injury.

The OHP are hoping to reopen part of U.S. Highway 54 sometime Monday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Betsy Randolph says officials were working to open one eastbound lane of the highway, which was closed in both directions between Guymon and Texhoma after the Sunday morning crash.

Mason Trailer Park, located on Highway 54 about three miles to the east of Goodwell, has also been evacuated.

The Guymon Police Department posted an Emergency Alert on its Facebook page, saying the train collision has potential for explosion. Authorities are warning residents nearby to not visit the scene.

Red Cross volunteers and staff from Woodward and Guymon are also providing emergency assistance to approximately 50 first responders following the train wreck.

They say there aren't any sheltering needs at this time, but they will reassess the situation if winds shift and fire affects nearby communities. Red Cross teams are coordinating with local emergency management, Union Pacific officials and Southern Baptists who are on scene.

There were about 250 rail cars involved in the crash between the two trains.
