Bartlesville Convention and Visitors Bureau confirms it has been working with the state's Film and Music Office on the "August: Osage County" movie production.
Officials say they have been scouting for shot locations in Osage and Washington counties. The movie is based on a play written by Tulsa-born Tracy Letts about a dysfunctional Pawhuska family.
The production company announced in February 2012, Oscar-winning actresses Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are set to star in the movie as mother and daughter.
Earlier this month, George Clooney has signed on to co-produce the film, which is based on a highly successful Broadway play and best-selling book. John Wells is the director.
If shooting locations end up in either county, "August: Osage County" will be the second major motion picture to be shot in both counties.
"To The Wonder," directed by Bartlesville native Terrence Malick starring Rachel McAdams and Ben Affleck, was shot in Bartlesville and Pawhuska in 2010. That movie is set for release later this year.
