A downtown Tulsa favorite is closing its doors, at least for now.
The Blue Dome Diner has been at its current location on Second Street between Elgin and Detroit Avenues for years.
Brian Prewitt has operated the diner for six years, in the same spot that housed the legendary Route 66 Diner.
But, he said, real estate prices are changing downtown and he just can't keep up.
"Either you're selling a $15 plate of eggs or an $8 plate of eggs," he said. "It just depends on what, where you value what you're spending on where you work, you know?"
The Blue Dome Diner will close July 29.
The diner's Facebook page had this note posted Sunday evening: "Landlord not willing to renew lease. Not my decision. We are open to any suggestions. Only given 3 weeks to vacate, so please understand this is happening very fast. My main concern is that all employees land safely. We appreciate everyone's support and please stop by & have a bite. We are not finished, someone has a plan for us and it [too] will be revealed."
