Tulsa County Burn Ban Means No Charcoal, Wood Grilling

Fire officials say the only exceptions to the burn ban involving outdoor grilling is that the grill must be in an electric or gas grill and the grill itself is sitting on gravel, concrete or another non-flammable surface.

Tulsa County residents, including those living in any city or community in the county using charcoal or wood in their outdoor grills face up to a year in the county jail and or a fine of up to $500.

On Monday, the Tulsa County commissioners approved extending the burn ban county-wide until July 30, 2012.

Fire officials say the only exceptions to the burn ban involving outdoor grilling is that the grill must be in an electric or gas grill and the grill itself is sitting on gravel, concrete or another non-flammable surface.

The commissioners are scheduled to assess the burn ban situation on July 30th and if needed, extended it again.
