The municipal political leaders of Tulsa County launched the public effort to promote Vision 2.

It's a continuation of the Vision 2025 sales tax -- for another 13 years.

"We think this will go a long way toward giving our regional economy a shot in the arm and positioning us for growth over the next 15 years," CEO of the Tulsa Metro Chamber Mike Neal said.

The new Vision plan calls for $748 million dollars in new taxes and spending.

Half of it would improve public property used for private industry at the airport.

"We need to make our assets, our home, we need to maintain them properly and make them where we're able to compete in this world in the aviation industry," Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said.

Other ideas that will make the list were identified during a vision summit back in April.

Many are yet to be identified for certain, but the county list is final:

  • A juvenile justice center for $38 million dollars
  • $25 million of road projects
  • $12 million for the fairgrounds
  • $10 million to repair levees
  • $7 million for parks

One of the chief backers of the first vision plan says that paid off -- and this one will too.

"What you tell the voters to get their confidence and get their vote happens, and it happened, and this is the same situation, with Vision 2," Bill LaFortune said.
