Editor's note: Moving day for News On 6 is just a few months away, so we're busy taking inventory of everything in our current building. We've checked thousands of old videotapes and we're sharing the best of what we find on the air and online.
They had some of the most loyal fans in the country, and in 1983 they rewarded those fans with a championship.
On October 1, 1983, the Tulsa Roughnecks beat the Toronto Blizzard 2-0 in Vancouver to win the North American Soccer League's championship. Soon after, the team returned home to a huge welcome and even a ticker tape parade in downtown Tulsa.
