Owasso Teenager Killed In Deer-Involved Wreck

An Owasso teenager died in the second deer-involved fatality wreck in Green Country this weekend. Tulsa Police say the single-car crash took place just after midnight on Port Road near Mohawk Park.

Six teens were in a Pontiac G6 going westbound in the 7800 block of Port Road when a deer apparently ran out in front of the vehicle. The 18-year-old driver swerved to avoid the animal and lost control of the car.

The Pontiac hit a grassy center median and flipped several times, according to Sergeant Steve Stoltz of the Tulsa Police Department.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a badly damaged vehicle. Several teenagers were outside the car, and one girl with severe injuries was lying on the side of the road.

There were four males and two females in the car when it crashed, according to police.

Stoltz said he believed one girl was sitting on the lap of a boy in the backseat. She was partially ejected from the car as it flipped and received severe injuries.

She later died at a local hospital, Stoltz said.

The teens all attended Owasso High School and had been out at a bowling alley, police say.

"There were no drugs or alcohol involved as best we can tell," Stoltz told News On 6. "It was just a tragic accident."

The driver was also transported to a local hospital. There was no word on his condition. The parents of the other teens picked them up from the accident scene, and officers weren't sure if they were taken to the hospital or not.

The identity of those involved will be released on Monday, officials said.

On Friday night, a Coweta man was killed in another deer-involved wreck on a Rogers County road.
