A mistrial has been declared in the child sex abuse case of an Oklahoma father whose nine children were taken into emergency custody after they were found living in squalid conditions.

The Southwest Times Record reports that LeFlore County District Judge Jon Sullivan granted the mistrial Monday, because too many potential jurors had formed opinions on the case.

One daughter told authorities she had a baby who died and that her father buried the body behind a goat pen. She said her father sexually abused her and a younger sibling.

James Haskins, 62, was charged with nine counts of felony child neglect and three of child sexual abuse. Each count carries a potential life sentence.

The children's mother, 40-year-old Lucinda Haskins is also charged with nine counts of child neglect and three counts of enabling child sexual abuse. She'll go to trial next.
