Bartlesville Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for the murder of his elderly grandmother.
Concerned neighbors called police when they found Clara Jean Hammer, 81, unresponsive in her home, around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
First responders and police determined that Hammer was dead, as a result of homicide.
Police said Hammer's vehicle was missing from the home and it appeared it may have been taken by whoever killed her.
Within an hour of sending out the car's description, it was located less than a mile away, at an apartment complex.
Police officers staked out the car and when two men attempted to get in it, they were immediately taken into custody.
Bartlesville Police said, late Wednesday night, that one of the men was cleared and released.
The other man, Brandon William Capps, 20, was arrested on complaints of first degree murder, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, grand larceny, selling stolen property, and knowingly concealing stolen property.
Police said Capps is the grandson of the victim and that he had been living in her home for the last three weeks.
Neighbors said Hammer was very well liked and that she was very active in her neighborhood.
"[She was] always involved in anything that had to do with any of the neighbors, all the neighbors loved her, and just a sweet lady," said neighbor Windell Stumpff. "This is just something that is devastating to this neighborhood."
The OSBI is working alongside Bartlesville Police on this case. Police have still not released how Hammer died.
