It was a Republican sweep as the GOP won all five Oklahoma congressional races on Tuesday.

In the Second Congressional District, Markwayne Mullin defeated Democrat Rob Wallace and Independent Michael Fulks to win his first seat in any public office.

Flanked by the four people he dedicated his win to, Markwayne Mullin addressed his supporters for the first time as Congressman of Oklahoma's 2nd District.

"We said no one was going to outwork us, we wanted to get our voice out and make sure someone goes and represents us not their own interest. We have enough politicians up there. We need someone who actually knows how to create jobs and we've been working to get that message out and it worked," said Markwayne Mullin.

This was Mullin's first run at any political office.

He's a plumber, a rancher and known for his small business Mullin Plumbing. He defeated five other Republicans to get to this point and says his lack of a political career is a good thing.

"It's not about parties, it's about America first. It's about the generation behind us. It's about our kids and our grandkids," said Markwayne Mullin.

Mullin beat out Rob Wallace, who positioned himself as a "different kind of Democrat," because he says he's pro-gun and has a strong faith in God.

"We outperformed the president by about 10 percentage points in most places; we needed to outperform him by 20. Sometimes the wave is just too big to surf," said Rob Wallace.

Mullin says he'll push for the same things he based his campaign on -- limited government, fewer taxes and repealing Obamacare.

Other than Tom Coburn's term from 1995 to 2001, the Second Congressional District hasn't been held by a Republican since the 1920's.
