A West Siloam Springs man who escaped from the Adair County jail is headed back there. Nicholas Ames was captured at 1:30 p.m. by the Adair County Sheriff's Office.

A tip led authorities to an address in Westville where they arrested Ames, according to Larry Colburn with the Adair County Sheriff's Office. Colburn said several agencies were involved in the capture.

Ames, 24, was being held on charges of possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The sheriff's office said Ames escaped from the jail in Stilwell just before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Officials say Ames was working as a trustee on kitchen duty shortly before he escaped. Officials allege that Ames mixed some chemicals that created fumes, which led to the evacuation of inmates and staff.

Ames escaped during the commotion.

The sheriff's office says Ames may have been headed to northwest Arkansas.  He is a white male, 5'7", 135 pounds and has a shaved head.
