Family Of Kayla Ferrante Honors Her Memory With Donation To Her Favorite Cause

The family of a Tulsa murder victim, help keep her memory alive while helping a cause that was close to her heart.

A reward fund was set up to catch whoever gunned down 17-year-old Kayla Ferrante the day after her high school graduation.

But police solved that case without a tip, so Tuesday, the $10,000 that was raised was donated in Kayla's honor to the special needs program at Memorial High School.

Kayla volunteered with the program, and her family and teachers say it changed her life.

"She was a kid who once she set her eyes on something she headed for it. She set a goal and she started reaching out to it. I mean, she just fell in love with these kids," said Special Education teacher Janette Parker.

Edwin Daniels has been arrested and charged with Kayla's murder.

Police said they believe Daniels thought he was shooting at rival gang members.
