Four women were found shot dead inside an apartment at Fairmont Terrace Apartments near 61st and Peoria Monday afternoon.

The only survivor of the shooting was a 3-year-old boy, found in the apartment with the four dead women.

That young boy's grandfather is now struggling with the idea that his twin daughters were murdered.

Police have identified all of the victims, but are not releasing their names.

It was a heartbreaking moment as family members raced to the Fairmont Terrace Apartments.

"My life's gone. My kids are gone," said Larry Powell.

Powell said his twin daughters were among the four women murdered.

Tulsa Police said all four were discovered around noon, within an hour of being shot.

The only survivor is a 3-year-old boy, who may have witnessed the death of his mother.

"The little baby, you know, he had to sit there all day and look at what they did. How could you do something like that?" Powell said.

This isn't the first time Powell has experienced the gut-wrenching pain of losing a child. His son died from the flu in 2003. Now, his two remaining daughters are also gone.

"You've got nothing left. All I've got are my two little grand kids and what am I going to do? Their parents are gone. My granddaughter is going crazy over there, right now," Powell said.

As neighbors came home and realized the terror that's happened nearby, they said they couldn't help but to feel frightened.

Gail Barton personally knew some of the victims.

"They were all so lively and fun and beautiful, really were beautiful girls," Barton said.

Barton said she could have easily been caught in the crossfire, since she's often at the victim's apartment during the day.

"To take such beauty and life away from so many people and to harm so many family members in the process and for what—money?" Barton said.

Police are still searching for the shooter and a motive.

"It's very unusual for someone to commit a crime like this and not discuss it with someone. We're asking anyone with any information - we don't care how small - to come forward," said Officer Leland Ashley.

TPD's gang unit is helping with the investigation.

If you have information call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
