Woman Caught On Video Stealing From Tulsa Nail Salon

A woman claiming to want a pedicure stole from a Tulsa nail salon, but no one realized until after she was gone.

The owners of the salon say, when the woman came in, they noticed she was acting strangely, but it wasn't until seeing the video that they realized how brazen she really was.

"I want the camera to make sure I can catch the face," said owner of Nails 4 You, Mylien Cunningham.

Cunningham said the security cameras at her salon are paying off. Her husband, Josh, installed them for times like on Wednesday night, when a woman in a blue sweatshirt came into her shop, reeking of smoke.

"Oh she smell weird and she acting weird," Cunningham said.

She said the woman asked about prices, then went to the restroom for about 10 minutes. When she came out, she wandered back into the manicure room, where Kristin Barbe was letting her nails dry.

"I heard the chairs moving, and I was sitting there playing on my phone while my nails were drying," Barbe said.

She said the woman asked her a strange question. She wanted to know where Barbe had sat for her manicure.

In the video, you can see Barbe point out the spot and turn back to her phone.

What happened next was all caught on camera.

"She was actually reaching over the table to open the drawers on the backside where usually they keep their nail tools and tips, so I guess that's what she was looking for," Barbe said.

The woman came up empty handed, but had another trick up her sleeve. While Cunningham and her sister were busy working on pedicures, you the woman headed into the employee room. That's where Cunningham said the woman stole her sister's wallet and left.

The woman made off with $200 in cash, checks, credit cards, an ID and Social Security card, Cunningham said.

She said she has no doubt the woman has done it before.

Cunningham admits she should have trusted her gut, and said she will from now on.

"I'm always nice to everybody," she said. "I put a lot of trust in the people, even new or old, but I need to change now."

Cunningham said the woman had been gone for about five minutes before they realized the wallet was gone. She said one of the customers actually told her to call police as soon as the woman came in.

The store has now filed a police report and they're hoping someone recognizes her from that security video.
