A Delaware County jury found a Jay middle school principal not guilty of manslaughter in a deadly boating accident Thursday.

Roger Shane Carroll was charged with manslaughter and reckless operation of a vessel. Prosecutors said Carroll was driving the boat when it crashed into a barrier in Grand Lake, last July.

Monte Price, 39, was thrown from the boat and died.

During seven days of testimony, 30 witnesses were called.

The jury deliberated for four hours Thursday afternoon.

Carroll is currently suspended from his job at Jay Middle School. He has said he would resign if found guilty.
