Baby Bear Causes Stir Near NSU Tahlequah Campus

Tahlequah Police and state wildlife officials are trying to remove a bear from a tree near the campus of Northeastern State University.A viewer sent a cell phone photo of the black bear to News On 6.Police and wildlife officials are standing by with a large cage and a tranquilizer gun.They are keeping students and other sightseers away from the area because they say the bear seems to want to come down.

Tahlequah Police and state wildlife officials removed a baby black bear from a tree near the campus of Northeastern State University Wednesday afternoon.

NSU posted video of the rescue on Facebook. The baby bear was shot with a tranquilizer dart and police and wildlife officials stood by with a large net to catch the bear as it fell out of the tree.

They kept students and other sightseers away from the area, as they worked.
