Oklahoma City Police arrested a father after they say the man shot his young son in the foot with a BB gun to teach him a lesson.
The boy's mother rushed him to Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon on July 12. The boy had a pellet lodged in the top of his foot. He told police that he, a 14-year-old friend and his 8-year-old sister were playing in the backyard of their home. The boy said he accidentally pointed the muzzle of the BB gun at his friend.
The boy said his father, 37-year-old Kevin Baldwin, became angry. He grabbed the gun from the victim and asked him if he knew how badly it would hurt if he were shot. The boy told police his father then pumped the gun twice, aimed it at his foot and pulled the trigger.
The boy's 14-year-old friend said Baldwin then aimed the BB gun at him and asked, "Do you want to feel it, too?" Baldwin's wife said he came into the house a few moments later and told her, "I just shot your son in the foot. Gotta [sic] learn a lesson."
The doctor told police the shot did not break any bones, and he would make an incision to remove the projectile.
Police located Baldwin a few days later and arrested him for assault with a dangerous weapon, and domestic violence in the presence of a child under 12.
