Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said he opposes changing the name of Brady Street, arguing it won't change history or make up for anything that the street's namesake might or might not have done.
The city council is planning a public hearing and vote Thursday on the possible change from Brady to Burlington Street.
It's because Tate Brady, a founder of the city, also had ties to the Klan.
"I'm not a fan of trying to revise history and ignore history. History is a great teacher," Bartlett said.
The mayor wouldn't say whether he would veto the name change if it goes that far.
