An unlighted stretch of road may have been a factor in the death of a motorcyclist overnight. Tulsa Police say a man in his 20s was killed after losing control of his Honda on U.S. Highway 75 just south of Apache.
"It's very unfortunate that just this one stretch of road here has turned out to be very dangerous at times," said Corporal Dan Miller of the Tulsa Police Department.
Miller said he has worked several wrecks in the same area over the last year, more than one of them fatal.
A police officer on his way home discovered the wreck at about 3:30 a.m. at a section where the road curves suddenly. The motorcyclist was northbound on Highway 75 when he crashed.
"Looks like he just realized the curve was there, hit the brakes and lost control," he said. The rider "ended up going off road and dying here at the scene."
Speed also may have contributed to the wreck. There were no immediate indications that alcohol was involved, Miller said.
Police believe the wreck had taken place earlier in the night. They had not yet identified the victim.
