A fatal wreck on Will Rogers Turnpike slowed traffic in Rogers County Thursday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Chevy Impala was southbound on County 4220 road over the turnpike when it crashed over a guardrail and landed on its top in the westbound lanes.

It happened at about 11:30 a.m.

Troopers said a woman, identified as 38-year-old Michelle Lea Hall, of Claremore, and a child were in the car. The OHP said the woman died at the scene. A medical helicopter took the child to a hospital.

The child, whose name was withheld, is now listed in stable condition.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the inside westbound lane at mile-marker 260 was blocked for about a hour, backing up traffic on the turnpike.

According to the OHP report, Hall was not wearing a seatbelt.
