Head-On Crash On I-44 West Of Tulsa Sends One Driver To The Hospital

A driver is in a Tulsa hospital after crashing his car into an oncoming semi on I-44 at 193rd West Avenue late Tuesday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a man was eastbound on I-44 when his Nissan crossed the center median and crashed into westbound semi at 11:45 p.m.

The OHP says at last word the driver of the car was in critical condition.  The driver of the semi was not injured.

The hood of the Nissan was imbedded in the front grill of the semi.

The crash closed down two east and westbound lanes of the I-44 for several hours while crews cleaned up the wreckage.

The OHP says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
