A 19-year-old man was taken to a Tulsa hospital in fair condition after the horse he was riding on was struck by a truck.

Police said the collision took place in the 4300 block of North Lewis Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

In retaliation, a fight broke out and a resident nearby threw a sledgehammer through the back window of the truck, TPD Sgt. Michael Brown said.

According to police, the man in the truck declined to press charges against the person who tossed the sledgehammer.

No other injuries were reported.

A police officer on scene called it a "bizarre thing."
