Tulsa resident Michael Davis stood behind crime tape, looking at a line of police cars, hoping for the best, yet fearing the worst.
"He's a good kid, a good kid," Davis said. "That's the hard part, we don't know if it was him or not."
Davis said his stepson spends a lot of time at a friend's house on Young Street, the same house where police executed a narcotics search Tuesday.
"He isn't answering his cell phone," said Davis. "That's not like him, he always answers his cell phone."
Police said there were about six people inside the house when the warrant was served.
TPD public information officer Leland Ashley said one of the officers confronted a man in a bedroom and fired a fatal shot, though police are investigating why he pulled the trigger.
When asked if it was an exchange of fire, Ashley said, "At this point, as I said, I'm not really clear, we're not really clear of the surrounding, I don't believe shots were fired back, but I don't know what led up to the officer having to use deadly force."
Ashley said the others inside the home were taken into custody for questioning, while Davis and his family wait for answers.
"She's taking it real hard right now and that's what's got me concerned, ‘cause she's taking it real hard right now. She loves her kids and when it comes to her kids, you know how mothers are," said Davis.
Police have not released the name of the officer who was involved in the shooting.
