Police say several witnesses are able to link a registered sex offender to the rape of a 5-year-old child that took place Saturday morning in East Tulsa. The child's mother walked in on the sexual assault after hearing her daughter crying, according to police.

She found a man, who police say is Kyle Duane Hancock, sexually assaulting the child. The man escaped through a window, but police say they captured him later in the day.

Among the witnesses that link Hancock to the crime is a man who was with him at the time of his arrest. According to the police report, the man confronted Hancock about the rape.

"Kyle Hancock then told the male witness that he was the one that sexually assaulted the girl and that he stated to the witness, 'I have a demon in me,'" the arresting officer said.

Hancock is being held without bond for first degree rape and first degree burglary, both after former conviction of a felony. His previous conviction was for lewd proposals/acts to a child under 16.

Hancock was arrested Saturday night after a woman called police with a tip.

"Guys like this don't ever need to be out on the street again," Sergeant Brandon Wycoff told News On 6. "He shouldn't have got out as quickly as he did from the first time."

Police say they found Hancock thanks to a citizen tip. A woman alerted police to Kyle Hancock's presence in the East Tulsa neighborhood after she saw reports about the sexual assault on the news and tracked the 29-year-old suspect to his current apartment address using the Internet, the arrest report states.

Hancock's latest address listed in the report is in the 2800 block of South 115th East Avenue, and the child lives with her mother in the 2700 block of South 112th East Avenue.

Officers responded to the area given them by the woman, located Hancock and placed him under arrest on an outstanding Creek County warrant. A warrant for his arrest on a $15,000 bond was issued in Creek County after he failed to appear in court in December, 2013, in connection to the lewd proposal conviction.

Hancock was led into the jail in a white plastic jumpsuit to preserve evidence on his person, police say.

The child's great uncle called News On 6 Sunday morning to say she is doing fairly well. The family has a strong faith that is helping them, he said.

"They need a lot of help right now on every level," he said.

The family doesn't want to go back into the home and is need of money to rent a new place. They just moved to the Tulsa area and don't have many belongings. If you would like to donate, you can give through PayPal. Just put in the address: dvss4u@aol.com.
