Tulsa police arrested a suspect involved in a deadly shooting in the 500 block of East Ute late Wednesday.
Police arrested Kevin Warrior in the shooting death of Charles Rapheal Dews.
Officers say several people were going to visit the 27-year-old victim at his home when they found some tennis shoes in the street and stopped to look. They discovered Dews lying in a field just after 11:30 p.m.
EMSA paramedics pronounced him dead a short time later.
Paramedics noticed another man, Christopher McCain, 22, watching them from some nearby bushes and alerted police. McCain ran away, but was apprehended a short distance away. Police took him away to be questioned after finding a gun on him.
Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker says they believe Dews was alive at around 10 p.m. Wednesday. About 45 minutes later, police officers on patrol reported hearing gunshots, but they were unable to find anything.
Walker said McCain was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County jail on a complaint of possession of a firearm after conviction of a felony. He says McCain is not linked to the murder at this time; however, police continue to investigate the circumstances as to why McCain was in the area.
He say Charles Dew's death is Tulsa's 21st homicide of the year.
