Two people are killed after a house fire in Midwest City early Saturday morning.

Midwest City Police are now investigating the house fire as a suspicious death.

Firefighters were called out to a home in the 1400 block of Maple Dr. around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived on scene, they could see flames and smoke coming from the house.

According to the Midwest City Fire Dept. Public Information Officer, David Richardson, a neighbor made that 911 call. Richardson said, early investigation shows the home did not have working smoke detectors.

Neighbors tell News 9 they believe the two victims were a young couple in their 20s.

"I really, really feel sad for them, for the family and them," said Jessie McFarland, neighbor. "I hope everything works out as far as the family's concerned."

Police have not released the names of the victims.
