Muskogee Police Identify Woman Found Dead On Stranger's Porch

The Muskogee Police Department has identified a woman found dead outside a stranger's home Wednesday night.

Police identify her as Rachelle Louise Hayes, 48.

According to Muskogee Police Cpl. Michael Mahan, the homeowner came home shortly after 11 p.m. to find Hayes's body on the porch.

Mahan says she'd been shot multiple times.

The homeowner told officers he had left his home in the 300 block of Douglas Street at 6 p.m. and did not return until shortly after 11 p.m.

Mahan said the department was called between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. about gunshots near the home, but police believed those reports were fireworks until the victim was found late Wednesday.

On Thursday afternoon, Mahan said earlier reports that Hayes was homeless were incorrect and that she actually had a residence in Muskogee.

Mahan says there is no suspect information yet.
