An Oklahoma City man was killed in a head-on collision outside Wagoner early Monday morning. Troopers say it happened at 5:50 a.m. on State Highway 51 about two miles east of town.

Fort Gibson resident Aaron E. Jenkins was westbound on the highway in an Oldsmobile SUV when he crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck a pickup head on, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report.

Feliz B. Amezquita, 59, was driving the pickup. Amezquita was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers were freed from their vehicles by Taylors Ferry Fire Department and Wagoner EMS.

Jenkins was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he is said to be stable with multiple injuries. OHP at first said Jenkins was not wearing a seat belt, but they issued a correction at 3 p.m. Monday stating both men were belted in at the time of the crash.

Troopers say Jenkins' condition before the wreck is under investigation.
