Four Earthquakes Reported In Logan County, 4.3 Largest Magnitude

The United States Geological Survey reported four earthquakes Saturday in Logan County. The largest was a 4.3 magnitude. 

The first earthquake was recorded at 6:27 a.m. as a 3.2 magnitude. It was located five miles south, southwest of Langston and six miles east of Guthrie. The depth was over three miles.

The largest in this series of tremors, a 4.3 magnitude, was recorded at 12:11 p.m. four miles south, southwest of Langston and eight miles east of Guthrie. The depth was also over three miles.

Several News 9 viewers reported feeling this tremor, including residents near The Village, Edmond, Moore, Norman and Del City.

At 11:47 a.m., a 2.9 magnitude quake was recorded five miles east of Guthrie and 16 miles north, northeast of Edmond. The depth was over two miles.

The fourth earthquake, recorded at 12:34 p.m., was located four miles east, southeast of Guthrie and 16 miles north, northeast of Edmond. The USGS reported this quake as a 3.0 magnitude and over three miles deep.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
