A mistaken address delayed Tulsa firefighters in their response to a house fire early Saturday. There were no injuries, but three people lost their home and several pets died.
Tulsa Fire Captain Bryan Runyan said crews first responded to a call of a structure fire in the 4100 block of South Louisville at about 4:15 a.m. No home was burning in that hundred block, but firefighters quickly spotted smoke and flames on the north side of 41st Street, he said.
The home in the 4000 block of South Louisville was engulfed in flames. Several cars in the driveway and a tree in the front yard also burned.
Firefighters got the fire under control in 15 to 20 minutes, but the home was a total loss, according to authorities.
Three people made it out of the home safely, but Runyan said their birds and cats were lost in the fire. He did not know the exact number of animals the family had.
The Red Cross is assisting the residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
