Sand Springs Police Release Names Of Two Injured In Car Crash

The Sand Springs Police Department released the names of the two women seriously injured in a high speed collision Thursday.

According to a news release, Donna Jo Newton, 31, and her passenger Jessica Lynn Cozad, 25, are hospitalized and in critical condition after the vehicle crashed into a stone column.

Officers said, in addition to the vehicle driven by Newton, there was a white four-door late model car that was either racing or being chased by Newton and Cozad.

Investigators determined both vehicles were going faster than 75 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone, the report says.

The report says they are still trying to identify the driver of the white four-door vehicle.
