Fire in a large pile of trash sent up a huge plume of dark smoke near Tulsa International Airport Friday evening.

Firefighters got the call at about 4:50 p.m. after smoke could be seen billowing west of Sheridan.

Osage SkyNews 6 HD pilot Will Kavanagh confirmed that it is a trash fire. The area appears to be a large dumping ground for a variety of objects, from tires to mattresses and appliances.

Crews had some difficulty accessing the area, because there are no roads near the pile of trash. They finally got close to the flames a few minutes after 5 p.m.

So far there's been no indication about how the fire started. No one has reported any injuries.
